Bart Lanman founded Basic City in Waynesboro in 2016 with his brothers Chris and Joe. Basic City’s Richmond location opened in 2018 and has 12 taps pouring beers, including its flagship IPA, The 6th Lord. Popular Richmond pizza place, Billy Pie, opened a satellite location within Basic City Beer Co. in late 2020. This newer Richmond brewery is within RVA Brew Crew’s Richmond Eastern Route. Located at 212 W. Sixth St. in the former Aragon Coffee building, the historic industrial building is in Richmond’s Manchester neighborhood.
Basic City Brewing Co. offers craft beers, like IPA’s, Lagers, Pilsners, and Stouts. They also offer flights for tastings and to-go beer in cans.
